The Canalside 2011 Project

Our Waterfront was once a bustling industrial port that marked the Western terminus of the Erie Canal and served as a major gateway to the American west. It is the hope of every Buffalonian that the Canalside 2011 project will re-establish the City’s historical relationship with the waterfront. This project will have both public and private investment of $300 Million. This project will have mixed uses, they include; Office Space, Retail Shops, Residential Areas, Hotels, RV Spaces and most importantly Cultural Centers. The new Commercial Slip will celebrate the history of the Erie Canal. The Prime Slip brings water into the center of the all the development. The hope is that Main street will once again be a vibrant public environment through the reintroduction of cars, a new central light rail station, and a bridge that will connect Downtown Buffalo to the Outer Harbor where, Buffalo’s renaissance will continue with future development.
